Meet the Candidates

I’m Carmina Aglubat, a Political Science & Communications student, proud Senator for the College of Liberal Arts and Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate. From opening up ASUN processes to the public to leading the Legislative Internship Program, my goal has always been to foster impactful public service and empower our student body.

Beyond ASUN, you’ll find me embracing campus life with Kappa Alpha Theta as Recruitment Director, diving into Honors College opportunities and engaging with on campus political groups. Off-campus, I’m hiking Northern Nevada trails, exploring coffee shops as a self-proclaimed connoisseur and hosting gatherings alongside friends with charcuterie boards, photo walls and themed decor.

I live by the philosophy: “Now is not the time to play it small. Play big.”  That’s where my passion to serve comes from, but I also cherish slowing down with good friends, a historical fiction drama and (of course) a good mocha with oat milk.

Here’s to finding home!

ASUN Vice President

I’m Ethan McNamara, a Civil Engineering student and your Vice Presidential candidate.

Raised right here in Reno, I’ve always appreciated how this city blends all four seasons with world-class mountains and the fun casino scene. There’s truly no place like Reno, where even when I’m lost on the road, I can walk into any store and bump into a familiar face. That sense of community is a core part of who I am and I’m proud to carry that with me as a student at UNR.

In ASUN, I represent the College of Engineering as a senator for the 92nd session and serve as vice-chair of the Committee on Democratic and Civic Engagement, where we focus on supporting Veterans Services and helping students become more engaged in democratic and civic matters.

Outside of ASUN, you’ll find me studying in DeLaMare or grabbing a bite at the Joe. I’m also the treasurer of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, where I’ve worked on managing our finances and helped raise funds for the local Boys and Girls Club. When I’m not on campus, I’m either skiing in the winter or hiking around Lake Tahoe in the summer, and I love visiting family in East Canada during breaks.

Reno is home, and I hope everyone who comes to UNR gets to experience the same connection and pride I feel every day.
